Rexona Ultimate Dance Challenge
01-07-2005 : The Challenge from Rexona is back! Following overwhelming response last year, Rexona®, the anti-perspirant deodorant expert, once again embarked on its Rexona® “No Sweat” Challenge.
The challenge is now in it’s forth year, each year taking on a different activity. This time the challenge is a team dance competition.
What’s exciting is that Rexona will continue to partner with TV3, the largest free to air T.V broadcast in Malaysia where the entire dance challenge will be translated into a 9 episode reality t.v show. The dance team will get a chance to show off their dance talent on national t.v watched by millions.
The Rexona® “No Sweat Challenge” is part of Rexona’s communications efforts to inculcate confidence amongst its young target group of women and men. The strategy in promoting the Rexona® brand does not only centre on the physical aspect of the human body, but the mental aspect as well. The unique feature of the “No Sweat Challenge” is the link between the brand and the event itself. This dance challenge is open to all amateur talented dancers from all walks of style and background in teams of 4. A total of more than 50 teams registered via online and roadshows to partake in the auditions in early May. The registered teams went thru a vigorous 2 day audition at the Dance Space Studio in Hartamas on the 18th & 19thJune. We had three dance judges to select the best 12 teams to go through the most challenging & the most heart pounding dance challenge vying for the grand prize of RM30,000.
Selecting the best 12 teams were indeed a challenge for the judges itself as all the teams were good. The challenges set forth by the judges are by no means any normal dance competition. Each dance challenge in itself has several elements that test different aspects of the team’s skill and creativity. The challenges will test the team’s adaptability, dance techniques and creativity when thrown in different situations and in different environments. Each challenge will become more difficult as we go along. It is interesting indeed! says Supattra.
The 12 teams will go through the process of elimination before the grand final which will end up with the final 3 team vying for the grand prize of RM30,000. The challenges will be conducted throughout a period of one and a half months up to the Grand Final at Orange Dance Club.
Prior to today’s culmination, a series of mini dance challenges were also carried out in collaboration with Hitz .fm via their cruisers from Klang Valley to Penang and Melaka, generating interest and excitement as well as building up courage amongst participants.
Not only that, for those who can’t dance but want to learn, Rexona also threw a challenge out offering 4 individuals to take up the challenge to be trained by the professionals at The Dance Space and perform at the Rexona No Sweat Dance Challenge Finals. All they need to do is to participate in the mini challenges.
It was truly an inspiration to see these participants show up with so much enthusiasm and creativity – each team staying cool and calm under the toughest dance challenge - without breaking a sweat. According to Supattra, the Rexona® “No Sweat” Challenge is an active means of encouraging the public to be confident in facing the challenges in life, which in today’s fast paced world, is in great demand.
The Rexona No Sweat Dance Challenge Program which will be broadcast at TV3 from 9th August onwards, every Tuesday at 7pm.
