Knorr catches Bazaar Ramadhan Fever
Ramadhan in Malaysia is greeted with tinges of festive gusto even as Muslims devote time for greater spiritual contemplation.
Ramadhan bazaars have been increasingly patronised by non-Muslims alongside Muslims who come out in droves in search of convenient fare for their breaking-of-fast and the mouthwatering delectables that this seasonal “food fiesta” offers.
The lure from the colour and diversity of Ramadhan bazaars is so contagious that even Unilever’s Knorr and its family of popular brands were not spared early indulgences to catch the fever associated with this quaint Malaysian street food culture. Thus, Unilever Malaysia was at the forefront as a corporate sponsor when the Majlis Bandaran Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) and Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) launched their respective annual Bazaar Ramadhan with short seminars for food traders ahead of Ramadhan month.
Official launch ceremonies were held by MBPJ (on 28 July) and MPSJ (on 11 August), presided by Petaling Jaya Mayor YBhg Dato’ Haji Mohamad Roslan bin Sakiman and MPSJ President YBhg Dato’ Adnan bin Hj Md Ikhsan respectively.
Sponsoring Knorr collectibles such as umbrellas, aprons and caps as giveaways, these were distributed to the participating traders licensed to hawk at the designated Bazaar Ramadhan sites located around Petaling Jaya and the burgeoning Subang Jaya municipality.
Knorr’s gesture during both occasions not only showcased itself as a brand with a passion for food at its heart but also endeared the hawkers, who were delighted with goodies they received after a lengthy briefing session conducted by the council authorities on the do’s and don’ts of Bazaar Ramadhan trading.
