Cif gives central market a clean and shiny new look
Kuala Lumpur – Cif, the world’s leading liquid cleaner, tackled the tough cleaning job in the interior and exterior of Central Market today. Through the help of volunteers and the Cif cleaning crew, Cif removed years of tough stains, dirt and grime to give the historical site a clean and shiny new look.
The cleaning of Central Market is part of Cif’s campaign, “Dengan Cif, semuanya menjadi serba baharu” (With Cif, everything becomes new again) and also Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
“Cif hopes to raise awareness of maintaining the cleanliness of historical sites as well as homes to promote a fresher and cleaner environment. We desire to inspire Malaysians to take pride in the places they value, be it their homes, historical sites or public places, by bringing back to life the beauty of those places. We believe that Cif’s tough cleaning properties will not only bring Central market back to its original glory but also refresh and beautify our homes,” said Mr. Rakesh Mohan, Chairman, Unilever Malaysia and Singapore.
Using the powerful and concentrated creamy formula of Cif Cream with unique micro particles for all surfaces such as tiles, walls, steel railings in the interior and exterior including the public toilets as well as Cif Spray for glass, the Cif cleaning crew and volunteers successfully removed stubborn dirt around Central Market with minimum effort.
Rakesh added, “Thousands of tourists visit Central Market every month and it is an iconic historical site that gives us a sense of connection to the wealth of Malaysia’s glorious past and diversity. We hope that through this exercise we inspire and encourage people to continue to appreciate Malaysia’s historical sites in years to come.”
Saved from being demolished in the 70s, Central Market has become a must-see for tourists to experience Malaysia’s rich culture, art and heritage. Over the years, the 126-year old building has gone through several upgrades but the original façade still remains.
“This project with Cif to bring new life to Central Market is very timely as this year is Visit Malaysia Year 2014. Central Market has stood the test of time with its 126-year history and Malaysians as well as tourists have come to appreciate the historical value of this heritage. Thousands of visitors walking through the market every week and the constant exposure to environmental elements and pollution makes it a daunting task to keep Central Market looking fresh at all times.
The Cif cleaning crew and volunteers spent two days cleaning Central Market’s interior and exterior including the walls of the front façade of dirt, grime and stubborn stains. Tourists and visitors can now view the true beauty of the site.
In conjunction with this campaign, the Cif cleaning crew will be visiting a few orphanages and old folks’ homes during the fasting month to help freshen up and beautify these homes in time for Raya.
The public will now have the opportunity to have the Cif cleaning crew clean their homes for free via the Cif radio contest running from 27 April to 24 May 2014 on Era FM. Participants only need to type Cif and the reason they want Cif crew to visit their homes and sms to 36322. Winners will receive a call from the Cif crew.
